Let Me Tell You!
Welcome back to another post of Let Me Tell! There is some exciting news ahead, so lets get into it!
5. We All Could Use a Hug….Apparently Even The Animals!
Even though the rest of Rafiki’s Planet Watch has been open since the reopening of the parks, The Affection Section has just now reopened its gates on November 15th, 2020. The area is accessible by train only, the Wildlife Express. Affection Section features animals like goats, donkeys, cows, sheep and pigs where you can pet and brush them. There has always been a hand-washing station inside Affection Section, but there are now additional hand sanitizer dispensers. I personally enjoy visiting Rafiki’s Planet Watch on my DAK trips, so I am confident they have some social distancing in place making them comfortable to open this section back up again at this time.
4. "If you are what you eat, then I only want to eat the good stuff." -Remy
On November 16th, 2020 – Josh D’Amaro, Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products Chairman, announced that the upcoming Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure attraction, located in EPCOT’s France Pavilion in the World Showcase, will be opening in 2021. This was originally supposed to take place in 2020, but due to the unforeseen circumstances of this year, it makes sense that the opening date has been pushed. We are happy they have still been able to make progress during this year and cannot wait to ride next year!
3. ….During a Pandemic??
So when Walt Disney World first opened their doors after being shut down for months, they received a lot of blacklash for doing so. Despite the criticism, operating at 25% capacity seemed to work smoothly! Guests were social distanced and wait time for attractions were under 30 minutes. Now, while covid numbers are rising I may add, Disney has announced that the park has now raised its capacity to 35% just in time for the holidays. That may not sound like a big jump, but guest have expressed that the parks are much more crowded and wait times have gone up significantly. Its safe to say that Disney is trying to snag as much money as they can during the holiday season. Yall stay safe out there in those 35% capacity streets!
2. There’s No Place Like Disney For the Holidays!
Despite missing fan favorites such as fireworks and character meet and greets, Walt Disney World theme park reservations are already 77% booked, with Thanksgiving week booked close to capacity! It seems that families are trying to find some pixie dust and magic during the holidays of this crazy year. If you plan on visiting during the holidays, act fast as reservations are going faster than an Ivy Park release!
1. We’re Almost There!
During Josh D’Amaro Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products keynote speech on November 16th, 2020 for the IAAPA Expo, he had a lot to say about the status of the Disney Parks in these times of Covid 19. Here is what he said about Disney choosing to speed up the retheming of the iconic Splash Mountain ride.
“We want to make sure that we’re focusing on inclusivity for our guests as well, so we’ve chosen to speed up some of the work that we had been developing to make sure that our parks remain relevant and welcoming to all of our guests. For example, we announced the transformation of our classic attraction Splash Mountain to include a new storyline based on Princess and the Frog. Tiana is a modern, courageous, and empowered woman, who pursues her dreams and never loses sight of what’s really important. It’s a great story with a strong lead character, set against the backdrop of New Orleans and the Louisiana bayou.” – Josh D’Amaro, Disney Parks Chairman
I am thrilled to hear they are going to waste no time on getting started with the retheme. I’m sure I can speak for many of us when I say we cannot WAIT to ride down the Bayou with our good sis Princes Tiana! Splash Mountain meet up anyone??’
