Let Me Tell You!
Hey friends! How yall feeling? Its been a minute! I have to shoutout our friends on the West Coast who are back home and enjoying being in the parks again living their best lives – I love that for them! If you’re new here, welcome! In this series we do a rundown of the latest topics. Let’s get into what’s been happening in these Disney streets!
6. Bottoms Up!
Disneyland’s The Blue Bayou will now serve beer, wine, and cocktails at the New Orleans Square restaurant! Club 33, a private club above the Blue Bayou, has served beer, wine and cocktails. Oga’s Cantina in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge serves cocktails also. Now Disneyland goers have another boozy option! Like at Oga’s Cantina, Blue Bayou patrons will not be able to get their drinks to go. Beer, wine and cocktails must be consumed inside the restaurant. Cheers!
5. It's the Disrespect for Me!
I love Pixar movies….LOVE! So I am confused why Disney is treating the newest Pixar movies the way they are. Disney recently made the decision to move Pixar’s Luca from a theatrical release to a Disney+ streaming release with NO Premiere Access. Disney released Pixar’s Soul exclusively on Disney+, also with no premiere access. According to The Hollywood Reporter’s former editorial director Matthew Belloni, Pixar employees are discouraged by Disney’s strategy:
They have every right to feel some type of way about these decisions because what is the reason!! Mulan had premiere access on Disney+. Raya and the Last Dragon had premiere access and went to theaters. Black Widow will have premiere access and go to theaters. Put some respect on Pixar’s name!
4. Lets Eat And Drink Around the World!
My favorite time of the year! I actually go back and forth between Food and Wine and the Holidays at Disney as my favorite time of the year, they’re both so great! Disney has recently announced that the Food and Wine Festival will begin this summer at Epcot! What is interesting about this year is even more marketplaces will join our favorite international booths that we know and love as the festival continues to November. Disney said more details on the 2021 festival will be shared soon. As someone who has not gone to Food and Wine since 2019, I will be in attendance this year! Who is meeting me there?
3. You Get a Vaccine! You Get a Vaccine!
Currently, if a vaccine appointment conflicts with a cast member’s schedule, Disney World will not mark anything for attendance on their record, according to the union. Disney will also be paying their Cast Members for 4 hours worth of work if they have a vaccine appointment. Union officials said the policy will last until Sept. 30! All Floridians 18 and older will be able to get the COVID-19 vaccine on April 5. The vaccine is currently available to anyone 40 and older. I am so excited for Cast Members! They deserve so much more for keeping the magic alive during the pandemic, but this is a start!
2. Are MagicBands On Their Way Out?
Anyone else get excited to receive their magic band in the mail because that signified your Disney vacation was approaching? Or the cutest new design drops and you just had to get the MagicBand! Do you match your MagicBand with your outfit of the day? Basically what I am getting at is MagicBands are a big part of the Disney property experience! At the end of March, Disney announced that the first phase of MagicMobile has officially begun, which will give your cell phone or other smart device the same abilities as MagicBands. Now guests can set up a special MagicMobile Pass in their Apple wallet which will give users the ability to enter the park with a valid ticket, unlock the door of their resort room, and connect their PhotoPass. The ability to charge purchases to your Walt Disney World resort room is not currently available, but will be added later. The current launch only gives this ability to iPhones and Apple Watches, but the ability will be rolled out to other smart devices soon! You can currently use both MagicMobile and MagicBands, but you have to wonder as they continue to develop technology will Magicbands eventually phase out. I personally hope not and will continue to wear mine!
1. Avengers Assemble!!
It’s happening! It’s happening! Disney has announced that Avengers Campus will open at Disney’s California Adventure on June 4. CNBC reported the Avengers Campus will include character meet-and-greets with Thor, Black Panther, Black Widow, and other MCU heroes AND villains. Let me find out Thanos will be kicking it at the park! It will feature a new Spider-Man ride as well as the existing Guardians of the Galaxy attraction. Disney’s parks in Anaheim will reopen April 30th to California residents only. Let me a hold a California ID real quick!
