Let Me Tell You

Baby Rhinos, New Signs, & Layoffs

Hey Afro and Pixie Dust family! Welcome to “Let Me Tell You”! Here I will be covering 5 news stories happening in these Disney streets. Let’s see what’s going on!

5. Welcome Back! – Sort of?

So, while there is no reopening in sight for Disneyland, there is some good news for our West Coast family! Limited shopping and dining will be available on Buena Vista Street, which guests will not need a ticket to access. The main gates of Disney California Adventure will remain closed and guests will enter near La Brea Bakery. For now, there is no specific date for this reopening, only that it will be sometime in November 2020.

4. Another One Bites the Dust

Disneyland Paris is temporarily closing again as France enters a second nationwide lockdown to slow the spread of the coronavirus. France’s President said the country would go into a lockdown that will last until at least Dec. 1. Will the hate towards Governor Newsome for simply trying to save lives stop now or nah?

3. It’s a Boy!

A 150-pound white rhinoceros was born at Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park on October 25th, 2020! Disney says it was the 11th white rhino born at Disney World, and two more are on the way. The theme park resort’s animal care team is keeping a watch on two other rhinos expected to give birth next year. Welcome to the Kilimanjaro Safari little one!

2. New Sign, Who Dis?

The official Disney Parks Blog shows the archways with a new color scheme of dark blue and gold. These new signs will also no longer feature the tagline, “Where Dreams Come True.” The sign will now feature the phrase, “The Most Magical Place on Earth”.  I am stuck somewhere between “if it’s not broke, don’t fix it” and “change is good”.  Overall, the new look is pretty nice and cannot wait to see it in person!

1. It’s Upsetting Me and My Homegirls

Another round of Walt Disney World Resort layoff emails have been sent out — this time primarily to entertainment Cast Members. The Cast Members who were part of Disney’s Animal Kingdom stage shows The Festival of the Lion King and Finding Nemo The Musical have also been laid off along with the entire cast of the Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor and Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue. There is no word when and if these shows will return. Our thoughts and prayers are with all Cast Members affected during this time. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you, for all of the magic you created!
