Let Me Tell You!
Hey family! Welcome back to another edition of Let Me Tell You! Today we are talking all things Soul in anticipation of the newest Pixar film. Here are the top 3 things I am looking forward to when watching the film!
3. Pass Me a Tissue!
I don’t know about yall, but Pixar gets me every time! Coco, Inside Out, Up….need I say more?! The tears be real! I know Soul will bring all the feels as we watch Joe Gardner (Jamie Foxx) life take a major turn as soon as he lands his big break as a musician. Can you imagine accomplishing a dream and it comes crashing down because you fell into a hole trying to avoid being hit by a car? Im breaking at the thought! And even though he will be this ghost like figure for most of the movie (which I know many of us are not too thrilled about) I am confident that the lessons learned during his time in this space where souls enter just before they cross over into the afterlife will be good and inspiring.
2. “Jazz is not just music, it’s a way of life, it’s a way of being, a way of thinking” – Nina Simone
Movies where Jazz is the backbone of the film always turns out to be a beautiful masterpiece! The music of this film is going to be so good to the point where they are releasing two soundtracks. Yes, two! One album will feature the original score by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, while the other will feature jazz compositions and arrangements by Jon Batiste. Currently, vinyl editions of both soundtracks are available for pre-order on Amazon with a release date of December 17th. 2020. Check that out here.
1. First Black Pixar Lead
Why there are still Black firsts in the year 2020 is above me now. But I am BEYOND excited to support our first black Pixar lead along with this amazing star-studded cast! Let me drop the receipts real quick! Jamie Foxx, Angela Bassett, Phylicia Rashad, Daveed Diggs, Quest Love, and Tina Fey. We deserve!! Soul will be available to stream on Disney+ December 25th, 2020. Merry Christmas to us! Be sure to stream and support the first melanated Pixar film!
