Relocation, The Jungle Cruise, & Mimosas with Mickey

Let Me Tell You!

Sisters, how y’all feel? Brothers, y’all alright? Hey friends! Its been a minute since we’ve last been together, and a lot has been happening in these Disney streets! Lets recap, shall we?

6. Pack Your Bags!

The Walt Disney Co. plans to relocate about 2,000 positions from California to a new facility in Florida. The move will allow the company to cash in on $580 million in tax credits expected to be paid out over the next 19 years. Employees whose jobs will relocate to Florida will be offered moving assistance, Disney officials said. The move will take place over the next 18 months. I’m curious how many people will pick up and move across the country versus how many people will just leave the company. Would you relocate to stay with the company?

5. Jungle Cruise Sails Into Theaters!

Disneyland hosted the Jungle Cruise’ movie premiere on July 24th , 2021.  Jungle Cruise star Emily Blunt rode the classic boat ride for the first time with co-star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson during the world premiere! Emily Blunt also had her first Dole Whip at the event! YUM! The Jungle Cruise movie premiere took place in Disneyland’s Fantasyland Theatre and after the premiere, the film’s stars were treated to an Adventureland after party with rides on the Jungle Cruise, Indiana Jones Adventure and Pirates of the Caribbean. Now that is my type of movie premiere! Not going to hold you, Jungle Cruise is not even in my top 20 when it comes to attractions, BUT  the film did a great job honoring the classic ride. I know all Skippers past and present appreciated this film, especially the jokes! Jungle Cruise is currently streaming on Disney+ and available in theaters.

4. Don’t Call It A Comeback!

Minnie and Friends Breakfast at Plaza Inn at Disneyland Resort and Mickey’s Tales of Adventure Breakfast at Storytellers Café at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa recently announced they will open for character dining for the first time since the park’s reopening! Mimosas with Mickey? Yes, please! Minnie and Friends Breakfast at Plaza Inn at Disneyland Resort is scheduled to open on August 12, 2021.  Mickey’s Tales of Adventure Breakfast at Storytellers Café opened on July 22, 2021 and is available for reservations. Bon Appétit!

3. Everybody’s Mask Goes Up!....And They Stay There!

Disney World is requiring masks indoors again, regardless of vaccination status. Disney announced on Wednesday, July 28th, that beginning July 30, face coverings are required for ALL guests (ages 2 and up) while indoors, on the Disney buses, monorails, and the Skyliner. This includes throughout all attractions! The company also announced they will require all salaried and non-union employees to be vaccinated in the next 60 days! The updated guidelines are in alignment with the CDC’s latest recommendations on mask wearing following a nationwide surge in COVID-19 cases due to transmission of the Delta variant. And that’s on Mary had a little lamb!

2. Run Me My Money!

Scarlett Johansson has filed a lawsuit against Disney on July 29th,  2021 for releasing Black Widow on streaming and in theaters at the same time. She says that this breached her contract and cost her MILLIONS of dollars since her salary was largely based on the film’s box office performance. Now other stars have entered the chat1 Emma Stone is “said to be weighing her options,” and Emily Blunt is “watching the Jungle Cruise numbers closely” . Whew chile! Disney better stop playing and give these people their money!

1. It's So Hard to Say Goodbye To Yesterdayyyy!

After a four year run, “Happily Ever After” will have its final show on September 29, 2021 at Magic Kingdom. Yes, you read that right. Last. Final. No More. Gone forever. (I am not okay!) And this is coming from a Wishes girl! The park is getting a new nighttime spectacular “Disney Enchanted” for Disney World’s 50th anniversary celebration. It was also reported “Epcot Forever” will end its run on September 28 right before Epcot’s new nighttime spectacular “Harmonious” debuts on October 1st. It didn’t run that long, but if anyone had an attachment to that show, we can be sad together! Even though I loved Happily Ever After, I am excited to see Disney Enchanted! I mean it has to be GRAND for the 50th right?? We shall see!
